DE JA VU - Aaron Gillingham

DE JA VU - Aaron Gillingham

28th of February 2019 - Hastings Seafront

The shoot was at ten o'clock in the morning along the seafront in Hastings. We had a few issues upon the set up, technical and problems that we could not help i.e the weather and onlookers. Once all had died down we proceeded to start filming with actor Hugh. Aaron the director helped walk me through the visions he had and as most of the shots were moving he had to literally walk with me and help my every move. We took three or four shots of each take to cover all areas and to give Aaron more to play with in the edit. Jack the sound man also had to stick rather close to me so he could get the perfect effects. All in all, the shoot went really well and Aaron is happy with the outcome. I enjoy short films, as this gives me an insight to what an actual film may be like to create.

'LATE LOUNGE' - JACK MARSDEN

9th of March 2019 - The Gallery

I was asked to be a camera operator during a live multi-cam production directed by Jack Marsden on the 9th of March. ‘Late Lounge’, this featured local musical performances from around Hastings, on this day a band called The Samarian Kings were due to be performing. A huge seven-piece punk band with lots and lots of flashing lights. When The Samarian Kings had arrived, we were setting up in the studio and introduced ourselves. The next hour went to the band setting up their own music equipment and even their own lighting. There were a few issues on the day of the shoot, the use of the fog machine during the bands first performance caused a need for a break as it was getting to cloudy to see on the camera. When we were back up and running, director Jack commanded us through the shots as we went along. this however was very difficult to hear as the band were so loud during performances. Overall, an enjoyable expeiernce and would love to do this again for a live TV show.

ADVERTISMENT - VICTORIA OTTEN

28th of March 2019 - Luke's House in Hastings

The first of two adverts filmed for Victoria was a fake Diet Coke advert. This was shot in both the interior and exterior, about a group of friends sharing a Diet Coke in a needed time. As it was a nice day we shoot the exterior first to get it out of the way just incase the weather took a turn for the worse. After a few distractions off cars, We got on with the job at hand. Main actress Lily was very helpful and agreed to all different shots we needed to do for the advert. Once the exterior shots were completed, we proceeded to the interior shoot with all three actresses. This part of the filming included three friends drinking the Diet Coke together. We had to do some takes one time and one time only, so after a few practice runs we carried out the shot and got it first time, which is lucky. After the main shoot had finished we needed some stills of a can of Diet Coke for the end of the advert. Even though the advert is only a minute long, it was really fun to create. I had never worked on an advert before, so i am glad Victoria asked me too.

ADVERTISMENT - VICTORIA OTTEN

29h of March 2019 - Room 501 Priory Bulilding

The second advert was for the hand soap Carex, this was a more complex shoot as the actors were improvising with not using their hands. The whole idea is not to touch any germs, but using the soap will protect you from 99.9% of germs. This is because it was a special edition of career soap. We filmed in the mens toilets first to get different angles of actor Aaron washing his hands, they were almost raisins. Next was a shoot in an office, with the actors doing different everyday tasks such as opening doors and using the computer. Again as it was an advert a the end of the shoot we needed stills of the product to use at the end of the edit.
